Working in a team has been one of the greatest challenges in my life for this very reason – ” I know I am independent by nature and in my flesh would prefer to work alone.” This area of independence is challenged daily in me and this is why many times as a leader I have wanted to run away from this as it brings accountability and at the same time exposure in my life.
I have seen my true state i.e independence, prejudice, pride, selfishness and legalistic ways but this exposure has been so good for me as it has brought me to the Lord to cry for help and change.
I am so grateful to the Lord that by the power of His grace and work of the cross in my life I am not the same independent man that came into the ministry. I have changed and very grateful as an elder to be working with a team of elders that have sharpened and brought protection to my life. As iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another and very grateful to the Lord for bringing the apostolic and other gifts into my life which have equipped me as an elder to preach the gospel and do what the Lord has called me to do.
